7.
Have each student
write down three different ways they think the SEARCH method could be used
Activity:
1.
I will assign each
student a climate, such as tropical, dessert, rain-forest grassland, etc. Once
the students are assigned their climate I will explain to them they are going
to be researching their climate using the SEARCH method. I will then explain
the rest of the lesson to the students. The students are not researching these
climates and the conditions of them to give a report, but rather to create
their own country.
2.
S- The students
will realize the purpose for their searching is to learn about the climate and
see what survives and grows in their climate.
3.
E- The students
will write a list of everything they know or think about their climate before beginning
research. The students will use the words and information they wrote in helping
them research.
4.
A- The students
will think about different search engines. As a class we will comprise a list
of effect and creditable resources and non-creditable resources (for example Wikipedia)
5.
R- The students
will then take to various websites and read the site looking for the
information to help their topic. Students will be looking for information such
as; what grows in their climate, climate temperatures seasonally, water
availability in climate, and any other information required to know how life
survives in the climate
6.
C- Students will cite
all resources they used when finding information. Students will use
google-notebook to site information.
7.
H- After
researching students will create their own country. After creating their
country based on the information found in their research, students will evaluate
if their research effectively helped them develop their country. The goal of
creating their country is to create a realistic sustainable life.
