When I first signed up for my Children's Literature course I did not know what to expect. I thought maybe we would be learning about different authors, or how to best read aloud to children, or how to know what children's literature to read to specific children. Now I as have started the course and know more about what we are going to be learning, I realize it is a bit of all of those things, but the course also involves me reading children's literature along with my textbook. When I first found out I was going to be reading children's books again, I thought "really?" But once I took a step back I became excited! The books I am going to be reading were a part of my childhood, or the newer literature books I will be reading are going to be apart of my students' childhoods! This is my chance to rediscover what I loved so much as a child, and be able to look at it with a different mind set. My reactions, thoughts, and ideas about what I will be reading I can analyze now, and I can analyze how the literature will be for my students. Throughout this blog I will post my reactions to the different children's literature book I will be readings, as well as my reactions to different "stand-out moments" to me in my textbook.
Reading is in every aspect of life, and one of the most amazing things the mind can do, so lets learn how to embrace it in every way and appreciate it, so those traits can be passed down to future generations!
